Text Box: Inch by Inch, Row by Row…..

Food, nutrition and wellness are Lakeview’s goals through which we reconnect our students with their agricultural heritage. Gardening and healthy eating became the vehicle for teaching and learning during the 2005 –2006 school year with help from the Vermont Rural Partnership, Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, Hazen Union Forestry Program, Wonder and Wisdom, the Pleasant’s Fund and community members.

The purpose of this project was to design and build vegetable and flower gardens around the school, while developing the children’s awareness of healthy eating habits, teaching good nutrition, and exploring the joys of growing and preparing their own food.
