Lakeview Union School in Greensboro, Vermont educates the children of the towns of Greensboro and Stannard. Kindergarten through sixth grade students attend classes in one of two buildings. The ‘lower campus’, built in 1910, houses the Town Clerk’s Offices, classrooms and the art room. The ‘upper campus’ contains classrooms, a multi-purpose room, library, computer lab, conference room and the kitchen. The original structure was built in 1957. In 1983, when Stannard and Greensboro formed Lakeview Union School, the library, office, bathrooms and multi-purpose room were added. Staff and students have wide opportunities to learn beyond academics. The music, art and physical education programs are integral parts of the curriculum. With the help of community volunteers, skiing and snow shoeing once a week adds variety to physical education in the wintertime. The P.L.U.S team’s (People for Lakeview Union School) mission is aligned to the school’s— to broaden experiences, encourage learning and active, safe recreation. |
